What are Ignition Interlock Devices?

Ignition Interlock Devices are an electronic device that is wired in series with your vehicles ignition system. It is basically an electronic switch that closes when you blow into it and the unit detects a level of alcohol lower than the preset limit. When the switch closes the car may be started and driven.

Can Ignition Interlock Device Installation be performed by the owner?

No, Your Ignition Interlock Installation must be performed by a certified ignition interlock device installation specialist.

What comprises "maintenance" of my Ignition Interlocking device?

As mandated by the Massachusetts OUI Law the vehicle must be brought to your certified Ignition Interlock Installer each month for calibration and data archival.

What is the closest location for the monthly monitoring of my Ignition Interlock device?

We have numerous installation and monitoring locations, in and around Massachusetts. Please call us and we are sure we can assign you to a location not further than 15 to 20 minutes from you.

Can an Ignition Interlock Device be installed on a motorcycle?

OUI Laws in Massachusetts prohibit an Ignition Interlocking Device installation on a motorcycle.

Can an Ignition Interlock System be installed in a commercial vehicle?

Yes, if a case requires that an interlock system be installed in a work vehicle we can assist with that need and have done so in the past.

Can the system be disabled for another driver?

No. The interlock system is permanently installed in the vehicle and must be blown into before the vehicle is started regardless of the driver. An ample number of mouthpieces are provided by us free of charge for use with the unit between numerous drivers.
